"In an effort to build campus-wide understanding of Yale's sustainability initiatives, how these changes affect the work we do as a university, and how everyone in our community can become involved, the Yale Office of Sustainability is planning the first Yale Sustainability Summit.

Yale Conference on
Religion & Ecology

"A major conference that will explore the emerging alliance of religion and ecology will be held at Yale University from February 28 to March 2. The conference, Renewing Hope: Pathways of Religious Environmentalism, comes at a time of increasing awareness of climate change and for the need to address environmental challenges from within the religious traditions. Over the course of four days, scholars, theologians and other religious leaders will examine their traditions’ environmental ethics and practice. In addition, pressing issues related to water, climate change, energy and eco-design will be discussed with expert facilitators."

Sustainability at Yale

The Environmental Sustainability Interest Group at Yale University (ESIG at Yale) seeks to develop the next generation of experts in sustainability, responsible development, and green commerce. The group will let students take the lead in pursuing innovative ideas on issues and projects that sit at the intersection of business, policy, engineering, and the environment.

ESIG at Yale will address specific topics and publish their ideas along with other resources on the group’s website. The group will balance their focus between domestic and global concerns. Where appropriate, they will network and collaborate with other like-minded public or private organizations.

ESIG at Yale will provide a valuable educational experience to its members while promoting new ways of addressing social, technological, and ecological needs.

UN Global Climate
Conference in Bali

A delegation from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies attended the UN's Global Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia, in December 2007. The goal of the 2007 conference was to establish a roadmap naming a successor to the Kyoto Protocol, which was enacted in 2005 and has a first commitment period ending in 2012. The United Nations and its constituents have been working together to establish long-term guidelines and solutions to regulate waste and emissions and generate greener policies worldwide.
